Gemstone Care & Vedic Maintenance
Natural astrological gemstones require gentle care to preserve their physical luster and maintain their subtle cosmic vibrational conductivity over decades of wear.
Three Golden Rules of Daily Care
Soak for 5 minutes in lukewarm water with mild organic soap. Gently clean underneath the setting using an extra-soft toothbrush.
Remove rings before swimming (chlorine), applying perfumes, hairsprays, or using harsh household cleaning bleaches.
Always store gemstones in separate fabric-lined pouches so harder gems (like Diamond or Sapphire) cannot scratch softer stones.
Gemstone-Specific Care Guidelines
Extremely durable and scratch-resistant. Safe with warm soapy water and soft brush cleaning. Keep the bottom facet clean from body oils to ensure uninterrupted light transmission.
Emeralds naturally contain delicate microscopic inclusions (jardin). Never clean Emeralds in ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Clean exclusively with room-temperature water and a microfiber cloth.
Organic gem composed of delicate calcium carbonate. Always put on pearls after applying perfumes and lotions. Wipe gently with a soft damp chamois cloth after wearing.
Coral is porous and sensitive to high heat and acids. Avoid contact with lemon juice, vinegar, or hot water. Clean with cool filtered water only.
Monthly Cleansing & Re-Energization
Over time, gemstones absorb negative atmospheric and emotional vibrations. To restore maximum planetary radiance:
- On the gemstone's ruling planetary day (e.g. Sunday for Sun/Ruby, Thursday for Jupiter/Yellow Sapphire), soak the ring for 15 minutes in raw unpasteurized milk and Gangajal (holy water).
- Rinse with pure water and place on a clean silk cloth.
- Chant the ruling planet's Beej Mantra 108 times using a Rudraksha or Sphatik mala.
- Offer incense (dhoop) and re-wear the ring while facing East during the planetary Hora.
